Burton Albion's Professional Development side suffered their first defeat of the season as Salford City claimed a 3-1 victory in the EFL Youth Alliance Northern Division.

How the Match Unfolded

Kairo Piper gave the Brewers an early lead with a free-kick, drilling the ball underneath the Salford wall into the bottom-left corner. The visitors responded quickly through Fahuz Amusat, who lashed the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle. Louie Backhouse doubled Salford's tally before half-time, coolly finishing into the bottom-right corner after possession was lost in the Albion final third.

In the second half, Jensen Heywood sealed the result with Salford's third goal. Goalkeeper James Clarke came off his line to claim a looping cross but couldn't collect the ball cleanly, and Heywood swept it into the empty net with 15 minutes remaining.

Managers and Team Selection

Shaun Barker and Dave Freeman's side balanced defence and attack in the opening stages but lacked opportunities to get back into the game after falling behind. Burton's XI included Clarke, Knowles, Samuel Oyemade, Keller, Hancock, Hetheridge, Henry, Gilbert, Meakin, Piper, and Sallis, with Shonwiha, Bowering, and Gaunt introduced as substitutes.
