Werner has announced plans to expand manufacturing at its Burton upon Trent Centre of Excellence and create new manufacturing and operational roles.

The height safety equipment manufacturer says the site will take on additional production lines as it becomes a larger part of its UK operations.

Some production lines will transfer from Werner's Maldon factory in Essex to Burton. From January 2027, Burton will also become the primary UK distribution hub for BoSS products, according to the company.

New roles planned in Burton

The investment follows the return of extension ladder production to the UK last year. Werner says the next stage will increase capacity at Burton and support skilled manufacturing opportunities in the Midlands.

The announcement does not specify the value of the investment or how many new jobs will be created. It also does not set out a recruitment timetable for the additional roles.

Justin White, managing director of Werner UK, said the expansion represented another stage in the company's commitment to UK manufacturing.

He said: "Investing in British manufacturing allows us to build on the expertise of our workforce, strengthen relationships with UK suppliers and respond more quickly to the needs of our customers."

Wider manufacturing and distribution role

Werner says the Burton facility will support the introduction of additional product lines across the ProDriven Global Brands network, while taking on the new BoSS distribution responsibility in January.

The company links the expansion to a strategy of bringing manufacturing closer to customers and increasing operational capacity in the UK.

The announcement was issued on behalf of Werner UK by HROC PR. Further company information is available through Werner UK.
