Which Burton bin or bag should I put out?

Recycling and grey-bin collections alternate. Use your postcode calendar for the dates; garden waste needs a subscription. Put the green food caddy out every week by 6.30am, in front of your bins with its handle locked. A separate vehicle collects it, so it may be emptied at a different time.

Blue bin
Loose, clean cans, glass bottles and jars, and accepted plastic containers. Paper and card go in the blue bag.
Blue bag
Paper and cardboard, including newspapers, envelopes and cereal boxes. Flatten extra cardboard to the bag’s size and secure it beside the bag, without a bin liner.
Grey bin
Household rubbish that cannot be recycled. DIY materials such as rubble, wood and plaster are not accepted.
Brown bin
Subscribed garden waste, including grass, leaves and prunings. Keep food waste out of this bin.
Green food caddy
Food scraps, peelings, meat and fish bones, and tea bags. Remove packaging; keep liquids, oil and fat out.

Missed bin?

Wait until after 2.30pm, as crews may still be finishing the round. Report a missed bin before midnight on the next working day after collection was due; assisted collections have separate arrangements. The council will not return for bins that were late, too heavy or contained the wrong waste. For a missed food caddy, the council currently asks you to put it out at the next collection. Check the full instructions before reporting.
