Burton's Statutes Fair will return to the town centre for three days in October, bringing rides and attractions alongside a series of road and car park closures.

The Pat Collins Fun Fairs event will run from Sunday 4 October to Tuesday 6 October in the Market Place and surrounding parts of High Street, Lichfield Street, New Street, Manor Croft and Manor Drive.

Burton Statutes Fair opening times

  • Sunday 4 October: 12.30pm to 11pm
  • Monday 5 October: noon to 11pm
  • Tuesday 6 October: noon to 11pm

Fairground staff are due to arrive on the evening of Saturday 3 October to begin setting up the attractions.

Road closures during the fair

Road and car park restrictions are scheduled to begin at 4pm on Saturday 3 October and remain in place until 6am on Wednesday 7 October. East Staffordshire Borough Council said this will allow time for the fair to close, equipment to be removed, streets to be swept and normal access to resume.

The planned road closures are:

  • Market Place: closed to all traffic.
  • High Street: closed to through traffic between Station Street and Lichfield Street.
  • New Street: closed to through traffic between High Street and Union Street.
  • Lichfield Street: closed between High Street and Bond Street.
  • Abbey Street: closed between Lichfield Street and Fleet Street.

Motorists and public-transport passengers are advised to check the council's current travel information before visiting the town centre.

A Burton tradition spanning more than a century

Pat Collins Fun Fairs has been associated with Burton upon Trent for more than 100 years. The modern Statutes Fair developed from the town's traditional labour hiring fair, historically held on the first Monday and Tuesday after Michaelmas.
