Burton Albion lost 3-0 to Oxford United in a Sky Bet League One match on matchday six at the Kassam Stadium. The Brewers remained goalless until the final fifteen minutes, when Siriki Dembélé and substitutes Louie Sibley and Gatlin O'Donkor scored to condemn Gary Bowyer's side to defeat.

First Half

The opening twenty minutes offered little attacking threat from either team. Burton dominated possession and played much of the game in Oxford's half, but failed to create clear-cut chances. Oxford's Cameron Brannagan came closest for the home side with a blocked effort from distance.

Joe Lewis was cautioned in the 23rd minute for an outstretched arm on Dembélé. Will Collar had Burton's first shot on target after the half hour, slipped through by Charlie Webster, but could not generate enough power on his sliding attempt to trouble Simon Eastwood.

Lewis was involved in a challenge on Peter Kioso and could have been shown a second yellow card, but referee William Davis issued only a warning instead. Burton's last chance of the half came from a Caylan Vickers corner in stoppage time, with Webster's half-volley blocked by Mo Missanga.

Second Half

Burton nearly broke the deadlock three minutes after the restart. After Curtis Tilt blocked Dembélé's shot, Webster collected the rebound and sent Raphael away down the left. The Australian carried the ball deep into the penalty area but his eventual shot hit the post and went wide.

Mo Missanga forced Burton goalkeeper Corey Addai into action on 60 minutes with a low drive that was comfortably saved. Webster tested Oxford's Eastwood from range on 66 minutes with a whipped effort that was parried out for a corner.

Lewis, who had carried a yellow card since the 23rd minute, was replaced by Jason Sraha after 67 minutes in Bowyer's fourth substitution. Kain Adom came close on 69 minutes after winning the ball, but Eastwood blocked his attempt as a defender recovered.

The match became increasingly stretched in the final twenty minutes. Addai denied Dembélé, before Webster began a move that the source does not complete.
