Burton Albion's PDP side drew 1-1 away at Mansfield Town in their latest EFL Youth Alliance North Division fixture. Kairo Piper's late goal secured the point after Joe Grant had put the hosts ahead midway through the second half. The result leaves the young Brewers in eighth place with 12 points from eight matches.

First Half

Burton started brightly and created the game's first chance when Miles Henry squared the ball across the penalty area to Robbie Meakin, but his rushed effort went wide. Will Earley had a similar opportunity moments later when Kairo Piper delivered a cross into the box, though the skipper failed to make clean contact.

The away side's momentum continued. Piper surged into the Mansfield box and fired across the face of goal. Samuel Oyemade deflected the effort goalwards, testing Milla Shore for the first time. Both Reuben Keller and Will Hetheridge tried their luck from well-worked corners, but Mansfield cleared their lines. James Clarke was called into action late in the half, deflecting the young Stags' strike, with Archie Hancock throwing his body in front of another effort from distance. The half ended goalless.

Second Half Drama

Shortly after the restart, Burton thought they had taken the lead when Robbie Meakin wheeled away in celebration, but the assistant referee's flag cut those celebrations short. Mansfield reacted positively and began to pressure Burton's defence. Joe Grant eventually found a way through with a slotted finish fifteen minutes from time.

Burton responded quickly. Miles Henry burst down the right wing to win a corner, and Meakin flew to meet Samuel Oyemade's delivery with a diving header, though his ambitious effort was deflected away from goal. Substitute Anotida Shonhiwa produced a crucial block to keep the deficit at one.

Kairo Piper got Burton level with five minutes of normal time remaining. The number 10 created a yard of space before unleashing a curling effort that flew into the top-right corner. In the closing stages, Piper came close to completing the turnaround when a neat one-two with Meakin set him up for another strike from 18 yards, but his effort was straight at Shore.
