Burton Albion will travel to face Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium next season as the U's begin life back in Sky Bet League One under former Arsenal and Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
Oxford United were relegated from the Championship after finishing in 22nd position. The club's return to the third tier marks the end of an eight-season spell in League One that culminated with promotion in 2023/24.
Oxford's difficult season
The 2024/25 campaign proved troublesome for Oxford. Under initial manager Gary Rowett, the side won just one of their first nine matches. Matt Bloomfield took over in January, but the team ultimately fell short of Championship survival. Their fate was confirmed before their penultimate game when rival results made League One football mathematically certain.
Oxford finished the season with a 4-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on the final day, though the result came too late to prevent relegation.
Burton's record against Oxford
The Brewers and the U's have met 30 times since the mid-2000s. Oxford hold the upper hand on record with 15 wins to Burton's eight. The Kassam Stadium, Oxford's home since 2001, has a capacity of 12,500.
Several current or recent Burton players have connections to Oxford. Kyran Lofthouse, Burton's 2025/26 Player of the Season, began his professional career at the Kassam Stadium in 2021.
