Burton Albion have accepted 28 breaches of agent regulations after being charged by the Football Association. The charge, issued in June, relates to the League One club's transfer business in 2024, when 47 players moved in and out of the club.
The transfer activity included a new British record of 23 players recruited in a single transfer window. This activity took place following the club's takeover by Sweden-based Nordic Football Group (NFG) that summer.
Agent involvement
Agent Conor Hayden was also charged by the FA. He was involved in 25 of the player "transactions" made in the summer and had been outsourced by Burton to handle its transfer dealings.
Across the entire 2024 campaign, Hayden was involved in a total of 43 deals done by Burton. This included the transfer that brought manager Gary Bowyer to the club in December 2024.
The FA previously said Hayden "allegedly concealed and/or misrepresented the reality and/or substance of these transactions so that it was not declared that he had acted for the club".
What happens next
Burton finished 17th in League One in the 2025-26 season, having narrowly avoided relegation from the third tier in 2024-25.
In a statement, Burton said they had responded to the charge and "would continue to update supporters on the progress of the case".
