Burton Albion FC has announced the loan signing of Emeka Adiele from Eredivisie side FC Utrecht. The 19-year-old left-sided defender joins on a season-long deal, becoming the Brewers' sixth summer addition.
Adiele moved to FC Utrecht from West Ham United in February 2024. He made ten appearances for the Dutch club across first-team and reserve football in the Eerste Divisie.
Manager and Director Backing
Head Coach Gary Bowyer said: "It's great to have Emeka here for the season. He is an exciting young player who adds depth to the squad. We're looking forward to working with him and I'm sure he will learn a lot from our more experienced players."
Sporting Director Richard Dorman added: "Emeka is someone we have tracked for a number of windows. He is a talented, attack-minded left wing-back with strong potential, and his profile gives the coaching staff another set of strengths to work with. He has a real attacking mindset and the physical qualities to make an impact from the left side."
Background
Adiele joined West Ham United's Academy at under-9 level and turned professional in 2024. He helped the young Hammers lift the U18 Premier League Cup in 2024/25 and was part of the U21 side that reached the latter stages of the EFL Trophy and National League Cup. He has represented England as a youth international.
