Burton Albion has announced that defender Finn Delap has signed a new three-year contract. The 21-year-old's deal includes an option for an additional year, meaning his stay at the Pirelli Stadium could extend to 2030.

Delap joined Burton Albion's academy at 15 and completed his scholarship before making his professional debut off the bench in a Sky Bet League One fixture away at Bristol Rovers in February 2024. He had loan spells at Woking and Buxton before his first league appearance for the club came under Gary Bowyer in a 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in April 2025.

Four further appearances followed as the Brewers secured survival. He was then given a two-year deal in summer 2025.

Injury and Return

Delap's first league start of the 2025/26 season came in a 1-0 win at Cardiff City Stadium. He became a fixture in the team, starting the next five matches before a knee injury ruled him out for the majority of the season. He returned from his long-term absence on the final day against Leyton Orient.

Recent Form

Delap has featured in eight of Albion's 10 competitive fixtures so far this season. He scored his first professional goal away at Notts County, with a second following a week later at home against Cambridge United.

Speaking on his new deal, Delap said: "I'm delighted to extend my stay here at Burton Albion. I really enjoy playing here and I'm grateful for the opportunity and the trust that the staff have given me. I've had some great moments in an Albion shirt so far, hopefully there are many more to come."
