Burton Albion has announced the appointments of Hiedi Sloan as Head Coach and Dan Brazier as Assistant Head Coach of the Women's Team.
Sloan spent much of her playing career in the Women's National League with Bedworth United Ladies and Solihull Moors Women before moving into coaching. Most recently she worked as a Coach Developer for the FA.
"I'm grateful to be given the opportunity to help shape the Women's Team moving forward," Sloan said. "I have learned a lot about Burton, the Community and the Football Club in my short time here. I want to do my bit to make a meaningful difference whilst I am around."
Brazier brings over five years of coaching experience. He has previously worked with youth sides at Tamworth and Coventry, and spent the last four seasons in various roles at the Burton Albion Community Trust and with the women's side.
"Bringing the women's team fully under the main club shows a genuine commitment to the future of the women's game here, and it's a huge statement of intent," Brazier said. "We want to create an environment where players can develop, compete and enjoy their football while representing a club with fantastic values and ambition."
Squad Building and Player Recruitment
The coaching pair are shaping the squad ahead of their first competitive fixture of the season — an FA Cup Qualifying Round away at Evesham United Ladies on Saturday 23 August.
They are looking for players who reflect the club's values and are ambitious, willing to learn, and prepared to work hard. "It's important that players drive high standards, not just for themselves but also for their teammates around them," they said. "Nobody has to be the finished article, but if they're committed to learning and willing to be coached, they will help us write a new chapter for Burton Albion Women."
The club is still recruiting players ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. Sloan highlighted that player welfare comes first and that the women's team offers a welcoming and safe space for new players.
